Val Performs at Westbeth Music Festival

Val & singer extraordinaire Martha Redbone jammin at the music fest! w/ grooves held down by Kevin Johnson (drums) & Fred Cash (bass)

Westbeth, an artists’ community established 41 years ago, presents music by its residents in a three-day festival on Friday, Sept. 23rd in the Brecht Forum, and Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, Sept. 25th in the outdoor courtyard on Bank Street. The music is an exciting and eclectic range of genres from world-renowned classical composers David del Tredici and Richard Hundley to New York’s Soul Man Bobby Harden and his 8-piece soul band (get up and DANCE!).

Last year at the 40th Anniversary Westbeth Festival Ralph Lee paraded his phantasmagoric puppets accompanied by Michael Moss’ band ZONE. Highlights also included Women of the Calabash, Singer/Song-Writer Valerie Ghent, Bob Dorough, Chris Hunter, and Eve Zanni. The Westbeth Jazz Allstars once again amazed us all with high intensity and spirit driven by world famous jazz drummer Nasheet Waits.
