Raising Their Voices

Musically inclined police, firefighters and volunteers who worked on the World Trade Center recovery effort are featured on a CD that’s just been released by West Street Records. Most of the 16 tracks on the “We’ll Carry On” disk were written and recorded by uniformed personnel, including FDNY members Hughie Lynch, Greg Parr, Kathleen Pemble, Tom Ferranola and Chris Pickford, and Port Authority police officer Norma Hardy. The rest came from Ground Zero volunteers and local singer-songwriters

Valerie Ghent put the record together and included “The Men”, a song she wrote from Hardy’s poem of the same name. The record is available at J+R Music World and www.cdbaby.com, which both waived their usual stocking fees, and at www.WestStreetRecords.com. Proceeds benefit WTC Ground Zero Relief, PAPD WTC Disaster Survivors Fund, and the 9.11 Widows & Victims’ Families Association.
